We use water every day but rarely think about what is in it. Tap water often contains limescale, iron and tiny bits of dirt. We cannot see them, but sometimes we feel them after a shower: skin feels tight, hair is harder to manage, and blonde hair slowly takes on a yellowish tint.
What is hard water?
Water is called hard when it contains a lot of dissolved minerals – mostly calcium and magnesium. They are harmless to drink, but in the shower they leave a thin layer of residue on your skin, hair and shower screen.
Hard water is easy to spot at home:
- white marks quickly appear on the shower glass and tap;
- limescale builds up in the kettle;
- soap and shampoo lather less;
- your skin looks drier and feels tight after a shower.
Iron and blonde hair
Iron in water often shows up as brownish stains in the sink or bath. It leaves its mark on hair too: iron particles can settle on the hair, so blonde or coloured hair gradually turns yellowish and the colour looks duller.
Our customers often notice that with the filter their hair is easier to manage and blonde hair no longer turns yellow from iron.
What can you do?
A few simple habits help with any water:
- Shower with lukewarm, not hot water – hot water dries the skin more.
- Do not stay in the shower too long – 5–10 minutes is enough.
- Pat your skin dry gently and apply a moisturiser straight away.
- Rinse blonde hair with cooler water now and then.
The biggest change happens in the water itself. A shower filter traps iron, sand and other impurities and softens the water – before it reaches your skin and hair.

The photo shows how much residue a filter traps during its lifetime. All of it would otherwise have ended up on your skin and hair.
The Vitaminata filter
The Vitaminata filter not only cleans the water but also enriches it with vitamin C and other skin-friendly ingredients: trehalose, hyaluronic acid and glycerin. It takes less than 5 minutes to install, and one filter lasts 30–60 days.
